Every candle has a story—and so does every market. From early-morning setups to the last sale of the day, markets are more than just a place to shop. They’re where connections are made, stories are shared, and small businesses like ours come to life in the most meaningful way.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like behind the scenes of a candle booth, here’s your insider look.
1. It All Starts Weeks in Advance
Pouring candles isn’t a last-minute task—especially in our workshop. Each candle cures for two full weeks before it’s ready to be sold. That means market prep starts long before we even check the weather forecast.
We plan ahead carefully, reviewing what scents sold well at recent events and deciding which seasonal or limited editions to bring. Once candles are poured and labeled, we double-check inventory and start packing everything needed for display, signage, and checkout.
2. Setup Day: A Game of Tetris and Tent Wrestling
Setting up a 10x10 booth might sound simple—until you’ve hauled out tables, crates of candles, and a checkout station before 8 a.m. It’s a full-body workout with a side of strategy. Everything has to fit just right to create a space that feels welcoming, organized, and on-brand.
We often aim for a layout that allows customers to browse freely, discover new scents, and maybe even snap a photo or two for social media.
3. Market Mornings: Coffee-Fueled and Heart-Filled
This is the best part. Doors open, the buzz builds, and we get to meet you—our customers. We love watching people’s faces as they find a candle that smells just like grandma’s kitchen or a favorite vacation spot.
Every candle has a scent story, but what makes markets magical are the stories we get back from customers. The laughs, the nostalgia, and the "oh my gosh, smell this!" moments make all the hard work worthwhile.
4. Real Talk: Not Every Market is Perfect
Sometimes the tent tries to fly away. Sometimes the rain shows up uninvited. Sometimes we forget something critical (like bags or signage or, yes, even snacks). But every market teaches us something new, and most hiccups are fixed with help from friendly neighboring vendors and a little duct tape.
5. The Drive Home: Tired Feet, Full Heart
After tear-down and packing up the last box, we usually hit the road tired—but incredibly thankful. Market days are long, but they’re filled with purpose. They remind us why we do what we do: to bring joy, comfort, and connection into your home through something as simple—and powerful—as scent.
